Enrollment
- You enroll in one of our online courses through the website. When you register we need your name and email address. By registering you agree to our Privacy and Cookie Statement, our General Conditions, and you consent to The Language Academy sending you occasional emails with information on our courses and offers. Tuition for the course is paid upon enrollment. You will receive the invoice by email showing the applicable sales tax of 0%.
- The course in which you have enrolled will be available for the duration you have selected (3, 6 or 12 months).
Cooling-off Period
- A Language Academy course is a digital product. From the moment you enroll and pay, you have a legal right to a 14-day cooling-off period to reconsider your purchase. You cannot use the product during this cooling-off period. In order to give you the opportunity to assess the course, you can work through a free demo comprised of the two first chapters. We must ask you to leave your email address in order to view a demo. By leaving your email address you agree to our Privacy and Cookie Statement, our General Conditions, and you consent to The Language Academy sending you occasional emails with information on our courses and offers.
- If you want to use the product within this 14-day period, you can waive the cooling-off period. You can indicate this on our website and then start using the product immediately.
Discounts
If after completing a Language Academy course you decide to take a subsequent course at The Language Academy, within a limited six-month period you can take advantage of a €25.00 discount on the course you want to take. This six-month period starts from the moment that the duration of the course you have already purchased ends, or at the moment you have completed the course by downloading your certificate.
Extension
The Language Academy gives you the option to purchase an extension so you can use your course for a longer duration. You can purchase the extension up to the last day before the end of the course contract.
Online+Teacher
- Starting the conversation classes
The conversation classes can start two weeks after you have purchased a course from The Language Academy. The conversation classes can be scheduled as soon as you have purchased the course and you have waived the two-week cooling-off period or this period has expired. - Scheduling conversation classes
The 5 or 10 conversation classes must be scheduled during the initial e-learning period (6 or 12 months). The conversation classes may not take place during any extension of your e-learning. After you purchase a course, we will contact you within 5 working days to schedule the first lesson. - Cancellation of conversation classes
Cancellations can only be made by sending an email to the teacher with info@thelanguageacademy.nl in the CC. To cancel a conversation class, you must provide notification at least 24 hours in advance. If it concerns a class on Monday, we kindly request you to notify us by 4 PM on the Friday before (at the latest). If you achieve this deadline, the canceled class can then be rescheduled free of charge. Conversation classes canceled less than 24 hours in advance cannot be rescheduled. Please note: if you purchased an Online+Teacher package with 5 conversation classes, you may cancel and catch up on 1 class. If you purchased an Online+Teacher package with 10 conversation classes, you may cancel and catch up on a maximum of 2 classes. - Technical information
The conversation classes take place using video conferencing software such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. You will need a reliable internet connection and a laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone.
Questions and complaints
- Questions or comments can be submitted using the contact form on The Language Academy website. When you contact us we need your name and email address.
- Administrative and content-related questions about the online courses will be answered by The Language Academy within 10 workdays of the date received, unless this is not reasonably possible.
- Please submit any complaints to us in writing by email. We will send you a confirmation of receipt including the target date for The Language Academy to handle your complaint.
Intellectual property rights
- Intellectual property rights to learning materials and audio and visual materials produced by The Language Academy remain at all times with The Language Academy.
- Access to The Language Academy’s digital learning environment is strictly personal. Sharing your login information with others or using your login information to provide others with access to our learning environment is not permitted. Selling or relinquishing your login information to third parties is strictly prohibited. Making your login information public in any form is also strictly prohibited.
Privacy and personal information
Your privacy is very important to The Language Academy. Your data will not be provided to third parties. All sensitive (personal) information about our students is considered to be strictly confidential and will not be shared with parties outside The Language Academy.
Changes to terms and conditions
The Language Academy reserves the right to change the terms and conditions concerning payment and cancellation at any time.
Legal jurisdiction
All our products, services, and delivery conditions are at all times and in any event subject to Dutch law.
